A Fairly Quiet New Year (so far...) & a Visit From Kiera

Yes, it's been fairly quiet these last two weeks around here.  That's alright too after all the business of the holidays.  The Christmas tree and decorations are all put away and the snowmen and winter decorations have come out for awhile.  This is my least favorite time of the year.  No beautiful lights outside to brighten up the long, cold winter nights.

It is also tax season for me (another reason I don't care for this time of the year).  YUCK!!!  Every year I vow to be good and stay caught up with my taxes at the end of every month, and every year I fall behind.  Here we are in January once again and I'm stressing myself out and scrambling to get everything ready for my appointment at the end of the month.  Somehow I always manage to make it through though.  I will once again this year too, I'm sure!  But enough about me...

As I stated earlier, the first full week of the new year was pretty quiet around here.  I had just Jackson here one morning/early afternoon.  We played with the Power Touch book, played with the Toy Story toys, listened and danced to the music, and read lots and lots of books together.

One of the books we read was a book about families-with all of the different members of the family (Moms, Dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins).  When we got to the page that showed the Grandma and Grandpa, Jackson pointed to the Grandma and said, "Miss Margaret!"  Well, after looking closer at the picture, I thought it did (slightly) resemble me.  I'm sure he saw a resemblance from the glasses (and not the white hair).  Ha ha!  See what you think :)

It's because of the glasses, right???
Alex is my arts-and-crafts boy.  He loves it when I have a craft project for him to do.  I think he enjoyed making his snowman headband.

Parker is my little book lover.  It's so much fun to read books with her.  It's the best though when she finds a book on her own and opens it up.  While she looks at the pictures she babbles her baby talk like she is reading out loud!  It's adorable!  I hope I can get it on video one of these days.

Parker loves to read books!

A happy girl!
Last Tuesday we had a visit from Kiera.  It was so much fun to have her here again.  She was a little shy at first but it helped that her cousin Parker was here too.
Kiera wasn't shy for long!
Then, when Jackson got here, the fun really began!  Don't get me wrong, Kiera loves her cousin Parker very much, but she had a blast with Jackson!  Everything Jackson did, Kiera wanted to do too.  They were sooooooo cute together!  They had the best time dancing.  Around and around they twirled and then Jackson would drop down on his knees.  Kiera would do the same and thought it was so fun.  It was great to watch the two of them laugh and chase after each other.  Adorable!
Here are a few more pictures of the fun they had.

Aren't they cute together?

Dancing fun!

It's a party!
This last week was somewhat difficult as some of the children were not feeling well.  Alex got sick here on Wednesday afternoon.  Parker has four teeth coming in all at once so she has been suffering from a runny nose and some unpleasant diapers resulting in a bad diaper rash.  Poor Sweetie!  She is quite the trooper though and continues to be a happy little girl through most of it!

Last Thursday she had fun playing peek-a-boo with me with one of the dress-up scarves.

Peek-a-boo!

 Bye for now!
